In this post, I will be discussing about an advertisement. In this advertisement, you will find Taylor Swift in the commercial. I chose this commercial because I that's the first thing that came up to my mind, which was "Taylor Swift"
In this commercial, I think that they chose Taylor Swift because she's famous world wide and an idol that people can look up to. (kids and adults). They used her to sell there product because people would like to use something that there idols have and use.
The brand of this advertisement is covergirl, which sells cosmetics and skin care products for people to have a better looking skin and better cosmetics for people to use.
In this commercial, they used 3 techniques to capture peoples attention. The 3 techniques are:
Celebrity: Because the advertiser is Taylor Swift. (already explain on the writing above)
Sexy: The clothes that she wore revealed more skin than usual and she was trying to be appealing and a hint of flirt in the commercial. So she can capture there attention.
Wealth: The clothes she wore.
Overall, I think that making it look sexy, it overpowered the commercial which takes over the main idea. they "did" capture our attention, although people are now focusing on Taylor Swift, not the product they are trying to sell. However, it was a good idea to choose Taylor Swift for skin products because she has flawless, smooth skin which cause that the viewers have a possibility that the product can also make there skin flawless like Taylor's and to achieve there goal. I personally think it depends on how the product affects your skin because people can get rashes or damage there skin if they dont know what product works for them the best.

Humor - Funny or crazy images that make the viewer laugh.
Macho - Strong, tough, powerful – usually males. May carry weapons or be pictured in dangerous situations. Cowboys.
Friends - Groups of people enjoying each other and doing things together. Buddies, pals and friendship.
Family - Mother, father, children or a family. May also be intergenerational group.
Fun - Everyone is happy – smiling and laughing. Often images of people doing fun things and having a good time.
Nature - Outdoor settings – mountains, ocean, desert, snow, flowers, etc. May or may not have people included.
Sexy - Emphasis on physical attributes of models, usually female; may wear revealing clothing and be shown flirting through attitude or body language.

Celebrity - Someone most people recognize – athlete, musician, politician, or movie star.
Wealth - Expensive and elegant places and things. Big houses, new cars, jewelry, designer clothing, etc.
In class, we discuss about how advertisers can capture our eyes with there selling product. The theme for these 10 techniques is "persuasion" Persuasion when they convince you to do things. In our topic, they presuade people to buy there product. In class, the teacher told us that the sellers show mostly the good things in there products and less on the bad things.

Helping Others
Todays topic will be about helping others. While I was thinking of an idea/topic for this blog, I decided to do a foundation called "Li Ka Shing Foundation" The foundation takes place at Hong Kong.
The owner:
The owner of the Li Ka Shing foundation is Mr. Li Ka Shing. As you can see, he named the foundation by his name. According to Luis Alberto Cardenas. "He was born in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, China at July 29 1928 (age of 83)" He started the foundation at the year 1980. Mr. Li is one of the wealthiest guy in East Asia. He is also the eleveth richest person in the world. What I like about Li Ka Shing is that he knows how to use his money in a good use. "Recently, the Li Ka Shing foundation was awarded for the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, he was also the first chinese guy to receieve this award." -Li Ka Shing . I must say that I think he deserved it because I think his motive isn't about gaining popularity, I think it's how he helps people in need.

How it helps others:
Charities and foundations help others because they help people in need, they change peoples lives in a good way. The most common things what Charity does are they help kids to have better education, better place for helpless people to stay, health care, food, clothing and all sorts of things. According to the Li Ka Shing foundation, what they do is they "Nurture a culture of giving. Support education reform initiatives that encourage long-term thinking, empowerment, creativity, open-mindedness, and constructive engagement. Help advance medical research and services." - Mr. Li Ka Shing donated almost $1.6 billion (US) to the charity. He helped several people with his money.

Re: Masterpieces from Paris in Canberra

http://www.artnewsblog.com/2009/12/masterpieces-from-paris-in-canberra.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+artsnewsblog+%28Art+News+Blog%29&utm_content=FeedBurner
In this blog, I will be talking about this painting from Vincent van Gogh. The masterpiece is called "Starry Night Over the Rhone" In my opinion, when I saw this art work, I was inspired on how the work was so detailed and beautiful. It makes me want to put more details into my paintings. I noticed that he used various types of shades in every colour. Even though it is not a colourful painting, the shades gave it dimensions and highlight to the painting. I realized that he used lines instead of painting it. That's very unique for a painter to do. It would be a nice experiance if I went to Vincent van Gogh's gallery because his paintings are probably neat to see in real life. In the art gallery, it will not only be Vincent van Gogh's masterpiece, Paul Gauguin and Cezanne's masterpiece will also be inside the gallery. On the blog, it says that Paul Gauguins will have 9 paintings ,Vincent van Goghs will have 7 paintings and Cezannes will have 8 paintings. Although the gallery was opened until April. But overall, I love the results of this painting.

3 topics
Today I will be talking about what is a purpose of a blog. A purpose of a blog is to give updates, express your ideas and opinions and to entertain the readers. They are well known as to inform, persuade, entertain. Those are the 3 things that are recommended in a blog .
Entertainment:
When writing a blog, you need to have some entertainment in your aticle and stories to make the readers read more.
- I chose the blog "Kim Jong-il looking at things." for entertainment because I think that they are trying to entertain readers by having less information and more pictures. Although I appreciate on how the writer put several pictures of Kim Jong-il looking at things. They did a good job on entertaining people because most people these days, they like to look at pictures than the information. http://kimjongillookingatthings.tumblr.com/.
-I chose the blog http://www.slashfilm.com/ because some people might find this entertaining because its giving updates on what is happening movies. It entertains them to know what movies have been released. But the blog is also an inform blog.
Inform:
When writing a blog, you need to inform people on whats happening and you should have specific information for them to know what you are informing.
- I chose the blog "Where to turn in the Wake of Debit card fees" for inform because it's informing people that the bank of America will be charging $5 per month for using debit cards. It is important that they are informing us especially with this type of situation to warn the people that own a debit card. http://lifehacker.com/5846969/where-to-turn-in-the-wake-of-debit-card-fees.
-I chose the blog http://www.bloglockers.com/ for inform because they are giving updates on sports. It is important that they are informing people about sports, especially the people that are into sports so that they know what's happening in the world.
Persuade:
A blog persuades or convince a person to agree on their idea.
- I chose the blog http://gizmodo.com/ because the writer is convincing or persuading the readers to buy the new electronics. On the blog, it is like an advertisement because it tries to sell it's product.
-I chose the blog http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/ because they were trying to persuade and share there opinions to make a difference. I think that this is a good usage of a blog because people might feel that they should do something about it.
That's it for today. Hope you learned something from this blog. Bye!

hi my name is vienna. I just made my blog today
I was born at the Philippines and I lived in Canada for 6 years.

I enjoy watching fashion shows, modeling and shopping.
When I turn 18 or 19, I would want to go to Korea with my friend so we can watch concerts and meet our idols.
I want to participate some activities in school like volleyball, badminton, art and other stuff I'm into.
My favorite subjects in school is math, but it depends on what we are learning.
When I grow up I want to become a dentist assistant or become famous (somehow).
